  • Dualhead Clone = Black Screen DVD?

I just put in a DVD drive into my computer over the holidays and set up my TV with the G400 as Dualhead Clone so I can play games etc. on the TV. The games work great this way but the DVD just shows a black box on the TV screen(looks fine on the monitor). Switching to DVD Max makes the movies work on the TV but I have to go back to my computer to control the movie Pause, Stop etc. as with the DVD Max enabled I cannot see my mouse on the TV. btw I am in WinME using 6.21 drivers. DVD software used is WinDVD 2000 ver. 2.3 and PowerDVD 3.0

You need to use the keyboard shortcuts to control DVD playback. I know the player (Cinemaster/Divicore) that ships with the G400 supports keyboard shortcuts; I haven't tried the others yet.

I am hoping to be able to just use Dualhead Clone and not have to switch between DVD Max and back. I am looking for a solution to the Black box problem. I hope there is one.
If not I will be trying the Keyboard shortcut method.

I use both DH Clone and DH DVD Max simultaneously. I see the desktop on my TV until I start the DVD where I'll simply use the keyboard shortcuts. You'll see the desktop again after you terminate the player.

If memory serves me correctly, my old Mystique G200 w/TVout could do the functions that I am looking for better than my G400 DH?
Seems a step in the wrong direction if this is the case. I just want my screen duplictated on my TV I thought the G400 could do this better than any other card with just TVout. Don't get me wrong I like this card, just a little miffed at it right now btw: is it a macrovision thing or just the way the drivers are set up?

the fact that you can't see overlay in clone mode is a driver limitations. I'm not sure this feature to be implemented in future drivers ever, because of certain other factors that could come into play here when it would be implemented. Maybe the G800 (or whatever) will support it.

I had the same problem as this (DVD window was blank on non-primary display) but after updating drivers a few months back, the problem was fixed.

I now use DVD Clone to connect my pc to my TV (saves me having to lug my monitor into the lounge room )

This is in win2k, though, and I'm using PowerDVD 2.55
