Hi mate, since you decided to delete the thread while I was typing an answer, I thought I should repost it ...

I have a Sony 28" 16:9 and the restriction also applies to that one ...

Only DivX movies I could watch on my TV were coded in 640 pixels width.

Maybe you could check out whether it's possible to use clone mode and disable DVD max, so that it wouldn't blank and you could try to maximize the window on VGA 1.

Or even use the TV to expand your desktop and see if it plays back on TV then.

those 2 are indeed solutions, that I forgot to list on my site I will do so soon

However, when not using overlay, you need a VERY powerfull CPU to get fluent full screen playback (and still rotten image quality), so the usefullness of these fixes is questionable.

I deleted the topic because it didn't have any usefull info, sorry that you were typing an answer while I deleted it
