  • G400 vs G450?? RR-G with G450??

I have a friend who is looking for a video card to do Photoshop, video, etc. I'm wondering what kind of performance differences there are between the G400 & G450. I have a G400 MAX/RR-G so I am aware of the G400 but I haven't used a G450. Also can a RR-G work with a G450? Thanks.

You might wait for someone that actually has the card, but I'm pretty sure that the G450 doesn't have connectors to use the RR-G/

Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

I have a G450 and I have a G400+RRG. And No, the G450 does NOT have the necessary connectors for the RRG.

The only way to have vidcap on the G450 is to buy the G450eTV (Marvel G450)

I doubt the RRG will ever work on any new matrox cards.

The G450eTV isn't available anywhere and I have to get it this weekend so it looks like the G400 will be the one and he can add a RR-G later. Not that RR-Gs are easy to find. Unless there is a worthwhile performance difference in 2D etc. between the two. From what I gather it looks like the G450 isn't a whole lot different from the G400. Which isn't a bad thing but if it isn't really any better then the G400 looks like the way to go.

hella, the G450 eTV hasn't been released yet... it's still in beta form.

Physically there is a big difference between the G400 and G450.

Have you tried Matrox's online store?

So, bottom line is that a 32 MB SH G400 is a little cheaper than a 32 MB DH G450 which is a little less than a 32 MB DH G400. I think he'll only be using 1 monitor so (Rainbow Runner aside) would there be any reason to go with the 32 MB G450 over the 32 MB G400?

Be aware that SingleHead G400 cards do not support RR-G. If a RR-G is in the plans, a Dualhead G400 is required.
