Well, after 6 months of using an Nvidia GeForce2, I opted for a G450. Got tired of squinting to read the text and tired of grainy looking graphics (both web and the stuff I work on).
Don't get me wrong, the GeForce is a nice card...if all you do is games. Fast, good driver support from Nvidia for Win2000. But when it comes to 2D work (on a Gateway VX900, which is essentially a Hitachi 751) on a 19" monitor, and the text and graphics looks like something my dog did...you get the idea.
About the only thing I'd ask is that Matrox work on the D3D speed of their Win2000 drivers. Mechwarrior 4 runs o.k. at 800x600 and choppy @ 1024x768 (the Nvidia card screemed at these resolutions).

Gateway Performance 850 - Matrox G450 32mb DDR, SB Live! Value, Promise UltraATA 66 & 30GB HD - and Windows 2000 Pro
