  • DVDMax problems with new DVDs

    6.21 drivers.

It seems as though I can watch slightly older DVDs just fine on my tv (James Bond Goldeneye), but newer ones (X-Men, Batman return of the joker) do not output to my tv correctly.

They play just fine on the computer, but tv output gets really dark and full of lines. Does anyone know what the problem is?
    thanks,
    Terry

Also seems like it cripples tv-out. I tried playing the DVDs in clone mode, but I get the same flicker as before.

        First off: Welcome aboard !!!

        Now about your problem:

Could you post some system details along with a description about how you hooked up your computer to your TV and most important:

What gfx card are you using (I guess it's G400 32MB DH) ???

Also please post details about installed BIOSes, drivers, IRQ assignments etc.

The more info we get the easier is it to find a solutin or at least a workaround.

        Cheers,
        Maggi

          Thanks for the welcome!
          I'm running win98SE, G400 32MB DH, 6.21 drivers.

I have the computer connected through my VCR to my tv. Thats seems to be the problem. I'm going to try to find an adapter to connect straight to the tv.

          thanks again,
          terry

            Hello everyone,
Well it has been a while sense my last post but I saw this and thought I could pop in with some brain candy.
For x-mas I got a few DVDs and as I started X-Men, PowerDVD 2.55 died with a Dr. Watson (win 2000). This is the only DVD that fails for me and is not the only new DVD I have, Gladiator is new as well but plays fine. I tried up grading the software to ver 3 of PowerDVD and later winDVD (current ver). After the upgrade X-Men did work but was choppy, actually all my DVDs were choppy now. Not sure if this helps any but thought I would let you know that others are having problems with the new DVDs as well.
As a side note this problem contenued after I changed the video card from the DualHead to an Geforce 2 MX. So the problems do not seem to be video card specific.
