  • Using MGA tweak!! I tried to add resolutions. Can I get rid of them?

In trying to improve the image quality of my 19' Samsung 900 IFT monitor, I tried to add resolutions via the MGA tweak program. I added 1256 x 942 & 1232 x 1024. I thought because 1256 x 942 had an aspect ratio of 4:3 that it might work. Niether of them work, but I'm stuck with them in my video setting! How do I get rid of them???

Also, if I want to try some resolutions in the future, how can I find some non-standard resolutions that will work with:

    Samsung 900 IFT 19" monitor
    Matrox G400 max

    thanks for any info

    Chris

P.S. The Samsung monitor has a BNC type cable with different BNC connectors, RED, GREEN, BLUE and H/V and V. Would this help me try other resolutions?

MGATweak doesn't support customizing resolution. You must have mistaken MGATweak with other utilities.

Using Matrox's MTSUtil it worked when I added a custom 4:3 resolution (1400x1050) - did you try this tool? (Available on Matrox' site)

My mistake. I meant Matrox's own tweak utility, Mtstu305.exe. I just downloaded their newest version, Mtstu414.exe.

Matrox told me, in order to get rid of the resolutions I added but don't want anymore, I have to uninstall the Matrox drivers in SAFE MODE and re-install them.

Wow! thats a lot of work.

I might try the resolution you suggested first.

If you use Powerdesk Resolution Manager 3.0, you can both add and delete resolutions.

          Get it here:

Anyone know if those tweaking program work in NT? I have a digital flat panel I'm trying to tweak out with some additional resolutions without having to edit the EDID structure for the panel.

Both MTSUtil and my resolution manager just use registry settings to take advantage of features built into Powerdesk for customizing resolutions. These features are unfortunately not available with Powerdesk for Windows NT 4.0 or earlier. Therefore, you can only use these programs with Windows 95/a/b/c, 98/SE, Me, 2000, and Whistler.

Got it. I now have the following useful and working resolutions:

                1600 x 1200
                1440 x 1080
                1400 x 1050
                1368 x 1024
                1328 x 998
                1280 x 1024
                1152 x 864
                1024 x 768

and after all that, I have settled on 1280 x 1024 again. Go figure!

                thanks folks
