  • G450 and Serverworks HE-SL Chipset

Has anyone had any experiences using the G450 with motherboards based on the Serverworks HE-SL chipset (e.g., Supermicro 370DE6)? Although AGP 2X is theoretically supported there are no agp drivers available for this chipset.

    Thanks

there is a review of the mobo at anandtech.com, they mention a work around to get agp working. (something about ID'ing as a serverworks le AGP).
But it sounds like if you want any kinf of graphic performance from this board you should go for a PCI optimised one(eg voodo3/4/5), since there agp implementation sux...why do you want graphic's performance for a server?

The application I have in mind involves the fast acquisition of blocks of data via the PCI bus (fibre channel or a PCI analog-to-digital converter)+ lots of number crunching. The G450 is of interest in that we need decent 2D video for the user interface and may be interested in the dual head feature.

Since we will be using NT (at least at first), I am assuming that the AGP shouldn't matter much as NT doesn't really support it anyways. Though it would be desirable to have with windows 2K.

Anyways, we will be puttting together a rack mount computer based on the Supermicro 370DE6 in the next week or so, and will find out soon if there are any issues. My post was motivated by seeing Anands article - while I appreciated the good memory subsystem performance, I was flabbergasted at the thought that a board with an agp pro slot wouldn't support agp.

      Thanks
