  • G400 SH 16MB for only 9.99$

I wouldn't believe it, if hadn't seen it for myself here on E-Bay ...

Looks sort of crippled to the DH versions, but for 10 bucks ?

    Cheers,

      Hi Barbarella,

it looks like there are some empty RAM-sockets ... (4 occupied and 4 free)

do you maybe have RAM chips on the backside of the PCB ?

Barbarella, that's because you have the 16 meg version.

I'm not too sure about this one - what's that connector just to the left of the heatsink? It's very different to any connectors on my DH one. (Unless, of course, there's a DH upgrade)

Also, that heatsink is the same one as on Marvel G400's; Not the same as the one on my G450... There's no connecting wire either.

Something's not quite right - also, why are there ZERO bids for it?

            looks fine to me.

It uses exactly the same heatsink as I have, and also has the same connector. THe only difference is that I have a dualhead model, and I don't have as many RAM chips on the front side of the card (I've got a 32MB version, of which a number of chips is placed on the back).

Update: I'm wrong. My board looks exactly like the one in the Matrox press galery, but with a heatsink like in the above picture on it

It looks exactly like the SH 16MB I had, and Steve, that connector to the left of the heatsink is for the DH upgrade.

A 16MB SH G400 was the first Matrox card I ever bought. I sold it on Ebay too, but for more than $10.

Reason the board look so different is that it is designed for the NLX form factor, where they put ports in front of the AGP/PCI slots. ATI has cards like this, and some of Elsa's do too...

Its pretty wierd trying to add a card into an NLX case... try to put the card in and its like 'WTF is there this {PS/2|serial|parallel|USB|network|etc} port in the way?'

from what i remember from reading the G400 DH Addon module, you should be able to get dual head if you are interested...

i'm pretty sure my max has the same connectors on it... doesn't have the same heatsink =)

Nice deal... makes me wish i had a CC and cared to order off of ebay...

Edit: found <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1212388901">this</a> on ebay - dual head addon module for $15.

                  Second Edit: Found <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1213178845">this</a> and <a href="http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1213178720">this</a> - pair of Max's for under $30 =)

One brand new Dual Head add-on for only $49.95

Strange that they have these in stock, while the G400 DH and Max are no longer in stock at ShopMatrox

My G400 16MB SH looks exactly like it. I bought mine on ebay too. The seller said that it was pulled from IBM.

Looks like a Compaq OEM board to me.
