  • Why I'm not waiting for the G800 (or what else) to come

'Cause I've seen a Vertex Skinning Demo running in hardware on my G400.

Hey, NDA's boys, just a question if you can answer (or, if you can, it's the same): will Matrox deliver a new version of the driver that will unleash it's real power?

I think I have this straight:
Vertex skinning isn't very hard. I'm pretty sure my G400 does it, and that the results show in the models for CounterStrike 1.0. It's Matrix Skinning that's nastier.
Gigabyte P35-DS3L with a Q6600, 2GB Kingston HyperX (after *3* bad pairs of Crucial Ballistix 1066), Galaxy 8800GT 512MB, SB X-Fi, some drives, and a Dell 2005fpw. Running WinXP.

Where did you get this demo?

If it ran on your G400, are you sure it wasnt a software hack? I would assume you would need drivers that support it for it to work in hardware. I would be very suprised if the G400 had hardware support for it.

Then again, Matrox could have written special drivers that uses the WARP engine to do Vertex Skinning instead of triangle setup so they could do R&D on the technique.

Surfwienix, do what Nuno says if you want it works.

Or...just copy a BMP file to the directory of the executable and name it Canada.bmp
              Have Fun ^_^

I think he is right, this demo is working on both the G400 AND the TNT in HAL mode... and if the TNT can do that with decent speed even in full screen then it can't be that hard

Surfwienix, that was done in Hardware.
I'll look to improve it when I'll finish to download the DX8 DevKit.
