  • Matrox Software DVD player installation

I just received the new Matrox Software DVD player. Using Asus K7M with G400 max and Win 98 SE. Should I uninstall the old player before installing the new one?

Rags, did you use third party software to remove? In Win98, I don't recall seeing it in Remove Programs or having a Remove option in Programs. SO I just ended up running it over the top of the old one.

Sometimes, in cases like these, the hope that it will be OK is greater than the ignorance that can precede failure.

          SComp,

That's really strange, because I have always had the option of uninstalling using Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.

Well, I un-installed the old player and re-booted, then I installed the new player.

Wouldn't go past the opening movie company ad in Pulp Fiction. Wouldn't go to the "Root-Menu" in Pulp Fiction. Rebooted and it has worked fine. No problems.

Works better than the first player. Auto-starts playing movies, I like that. Looks like it has more flexability and also has more power.

Appears to have Dolby sent to the Left and Right channels. Can that be decoded by a receiver just like normal now???

              thanks for the advice folks
