  • blue orb an a g400?

    I think it's possible.
But I don't think you would have better performance.

The memory of CPU is the real problem with overclock.

    I've a G400Max 168/227. It's possible with some small cooler on memory.

    Chip cooler are the some!

firstly, let me welcome you aboard!
a blue orb will fit on a G400MAX according to this thread
      http://forums.murc.ws/ubb/Forum5/HTML/009842.html
so it should fit on your vanilla g400!

thanks so much for all the info and i'll be sure to invest in some sinks for the ram.

thanks for the link as well, i'll be fiddling with it later today so i'll prolly be having lots of fun

maybe you should try a globalwin cbf32, it's better than the blue orb (so i'm told, and since orbs are more for looks than for cooling, i reckon it's true), dunno if it fits though, as it looks somewhat bigger (but maybe it will be big enough to cool your rams too, which would be great since, as abt01 pointed out, they're the real bottleneck)

by the way does anyone know where to get the ram heatsinks?
they seem to be a little hard to find or also around how much i could expect to pay for a set?
            thanx

A lot of people just cut up their own RAM HSs.

The Blue Orb is more than enough cooling for a G400, even when overclocked. With the Blorb, your gonna hit the core's physical limits before thermal junction limits.

Cooling the ram chips would be more benificial than putting exessive cooling on the core.

well, the blur orb fit beautifully, but one final questions....

what size do the ram heatsinks need to be to fit on the sgram chips... (i can't seem to find a ruler)

                      thanks

                        Fredo5,

The RAM is about 1"X2" so the RAMsinks can be slighty bigger or 1"X2".

Hmmm methinks I need to take elementary counting again. I knew there was a 1 and 2 but was confused about what format . Thanks Greebe for the correction.
