Matrox figures
I mentioned a few weeks (probably months) about the posting on Matrox's site that mentioned that they had sold over 6 million g200 chips. The story is dated December 14, 2000. (http://www.matrox.com/mga/archive_story/dec2000/g200mms_financial.cfm)
Now, in the press release concerning the Bloomberg design win they mention that they have now shipped close to 7 million chips. They might be fudging the numbers (ie the first story might actually refer to 6.9 million with this story representing 6.99 million or something similar). Whatever the fact... i'm always curious about what Matrox's financial situation is. They aren't public, so this kinda information is pretty difficult to come by. ATI made a big stink when they became the first graphics company surpass 1 billion in annual sales (i'm not sure if that was CND or US funds) but I have to wonder what matrox's sales numbers could be. Anyone??
