why would you ever want to install the MS VIA AGP patch? Doesn't it just contain an old VIA GART driver? I think you would be much better off by installing the latest VIA 4-in-1 driver instead.

Actually that MS AGP VIA fix has some issues - it could be necessary, because since it came around, VIA still hasn´t updated its AGP win2k driver. So the VIAAGP1.sys file in the 4.30 4-1 is the same since 4.28 or so.

But what´s happening is that MS patch actually installs a file named VIAAGP.sys, so it doesn´t overwrite the AGP driver from the 4-in-1´s (it misses the "1"). Device manager still shows VIA driver in use.

So it´s questionable if the MS AGP patch is doing anything at all.

I did install that fix when i was getting pretty pissed with the fact that all apps/games would crash after 1 secs. And they suggested it on the matrox tech support forums for someone else so.. ( that guy had via x.29 final installed if i remember correctly. )

At that point I was trying anything i could think of.. 5.33 seems to be the driver for me.. dont know why but it's the only one that works without a hitch.

And at the moment my computer isn't even o'c, because of the testing and the fact that i need to fix those markers on the processor.
