A little late but about your post, all memory chips on the G450 use a 64 bits bus; I'll put it simple for your inferior intellect ( ) Remember the G200 ? If you added the 8 MB upgrade, did it double the bus width ? Nope. And the G400 16 MB di it have a 64 bits bus because it only had 4 memory chips while the 32 MB and MAX versions had 8 chips? Nope... You could do a G400 with a Single 16 MB memory chip abd it would still possess a 128 bits bus.

ok, thanks for the info.

I think I've been confused by the statement that the G450 didn't need as much memory chips as the G400 because of the 64-bit memory bus, and would therefor be cheaper to produce... I guess that statement isn't true then.

I´m afraid frankymail got it wrong.
Each of the mem chips on the G450 has a data width of 16 bits.
You can look that up for yourselves, if you don´t beleive me, at Hyundai´s site. Just make a search on the part number (as quoted above).
That doesn´t mean there aren´t chips with wider data paths, but their physical appearances are the same so without knowing the chipmakers naming convention you couldn´t tell them apart by looking at them.

dZeus, you're right, Matrox used 64bits DDR SDRAM chips to save cost, but not because it allowed to use less chips, but because it allow to cut the number of traces to the memory in half, and reduce the number of pins on the G450 chip itself. By save traces/pins/PCB space, Matrox reduces production costs.

I'm sorry Bill but YOU are wrong (and I _REALLY_ know what I'm talking about here...) You just looked at Hyundai's PDF and saw "Data Path Width" and the numbers 4,6,16,32... That's the datapath PER MEMORY BANK ! Given the facts that the G450 Memory chips have 4 memory banks per chips, each chip has a 64 bits data path (but memory is a serial architechture, so you can add memory chips without adding traces to the processor, but it doesn't add bandwidth). You can have 16 bits or even 8 bits memory, but it only found in less sophisticated devices, like cellular phones, pager, etc.
If you don't believe me, look at ANY graphic card CAREFULLY and "trace" the traces... see for yourself.

BTW, Bill, for God's sake, please do not blast someone when YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT YOU'RE TALKING ABOUT... Have you seen my last post ? I thought everyone would understand, but it seems I was mistaken
