I find it kinda funny that the matrox rep over there implied that the G450 is sufficient for casual gaming/fragging. Sorry, but a card that is slower than a G400 vanilla just doesn't cut it, unless you want to run at 640x480.

We got a G450 at work to test, and decided to get some ATI cards since it was just too damned slow for any 3D stuff, and the OGL wasn't that great.

          Wow! That's so exciting Sonia.
I wish MURC could attract some attention from Matrox. I guess they just don't care about us. Why doesn't anyone from support ever visit here? I better rush on over to electic where its all goin' on. Thanks!

Haig seems to be "all around" us at the moment, must be an omen

And, look at what number of posts he's approaching...so, someone could work out how many posts he makes per week, on average, work out when he'll hit the magic "666", and we'll all tune in to see the devilish announcement, mwuahahahaha!

If you guys only knew how much time certain parts of Matrox spend scrutinising what gets written in these forums. It's just a shame they can't use a fraction of that time to contribute. Matrox PR you are most welcome to join in, we know you are out there!

Don't they have a whole team doing just that, Ant?

I've been trying to keep up to date with all this PR stuff that has happened in the last 2 months, and the stance that Matrox seems to have taken is one that I dont particularly understand.

Collectively the statement they are making is that they dont really give two shits about the gaming market since it isnt a money maker, but they are providing support for games with their cards so that people dont complain. ironic huh?

They push for the "we make video cards for businesses" yet they state that they arent going to enter the workstation scene any time soon.

Well, if they business market they are shooting for are secretaries and others that just type letters all day and make spreadsheets, they are going to have a damn hard time competing with the cards that cost 50 bucks and do..... THE EXACT SAME THING. in an office environment, nobody NEEDS the things that Matrox is offering. In an office environment, the PC i had 2 years ago would suffice. All the business systems I sell at work all have a video card... you knwo what I sell them? Onboard video.

If they hope to rely on only large contracts like being the video cards to power the stock market, or the video cards that show what time your flight arrives at the airport, they will quickly realize that soon that market will be saturated... and then what?

I am a gamer.. and a CAD users. I love the dual monitor support, but performance is disgusting on everything I do. Rendering a model in Pro Engineer should not animate like its running on a pentium 2 system when im running dual 800's. No, scratch that, I can view this web site with extreme clarity. yippee.

I can say with complete certainty that I will not purchase the next Matrox card. I was looking into purchasing other cards, but then came to the conclusion that what what I need it for, the card I have now is the best. Just too damn slow. But, I am not about to spend another $250 bucks to get a 25% performance increase. So i guess that means, Ill just keep what I have, and hope that perhaps in a couple years when i graduate college, matrox will get its head out of the sand and broaden its horizons a bit and consider, gaming, performance video editing, performance animation, and performance CAD.

Just waiting for the dust to settle

Is it possible Sebastian to get tech support people to the forum, "Video Cards", to answer questions people might have?

If anyone visits there, tell them nothing personal but me and my guys only deal with MURC and our forums for any troubleshooting issues.
