Don't trust in anyone who steals their nick from a Dilbert cartoon.

BTW Isn't Dogbert a real a**hole in the cartoons?

Libertarian is still the way to go if we truly want a real change.

That's a drawback of any coprocessor solution ... there comes a time when the CPU speed increases to a point where the coprocessor becomes a bottleneck. Solution ... use a slower CPU.

Yes, just see the HighPoly counts of 3DMark2000 of NVidias hardware T&L versus software on a fast P-III or TBird...

Still when the gfxcard is doing this work it's freeing up CPU cycles, even though the CPU would be fast enough to do it at the same or even higher speed.

True. I always had difficulty convincing management of this benefit. People want to bench equipment in an isolated environment which doesn't reflect how it performs in the real world. Still, the processing power differential becomes so great that it overwhelms the benefit of multiple processors. Your adding overhead for Inter Processor Communications. The level of the interface is important to the size and number of the messages that pass between the processors and the distribution of the workload. In a more sophisticated implementation, this interface could be altered to adjust for the relative processor capabilities. Unfortunately, I don't think the technology is cheap enough for the consumer market yet.
