I went with the re-installation of the DivX codec.
When I removed the codec and re-installed it, the problem didn't go away, so I tried to G400 hack, which also didn't work. Then, I tried downloading a diffent version of the DiVx codec, and it worked. So, I'm good to go.
Well, I wish I could move my earlier question into this thread, as you guys answered it. Weird that I wasn't getting any responses though. My question had been about w2k, dualhead mode and the ram split. Now I see. One Item I wish to mention to everyone in this thread was that rather than guessing /calculating how much ram is being used for desktop, etc., try out Sisoft Sandra's utility with the DirectX function. It showed me in 'realtime' how my ram was split up, how much ram was used/available when at the desktop and while watching a dvd.
Most would think that type of info would be under video, but, in hindsight, the desktop does use Directx 2d and I've heard that overlay uses directshow, so I guess it makes sense that way.
