The only reason I have is that NetMeeting doesn't work behind a firewall, otherwise ...

                See my other post.

Reasons I won't purchase another Matrox product in the future.

Matrox DVD Hardware addon: Ceased all development after inital release of Zoran player. Bixler and Cods were able to determine that the MGI SoftDVD product installed over the top would provide more support in 98. W2K comes along and the support of the module in the video drivers is removed so even DirectShow filter ports to W2K are impossible.

Last Straw: Rainbow Runner-G series development of MJPEG Video Tools halted across the board. No W2K VT that are not beta that will support more than RGB capture and 98 driver support ceased with a number of bugs still present.

When users were asking on the Matrox Support Forum about possible XP support of the G450 eTV, there was a reply that it wasn't planned at this time.

For you regular card users, it took a serious amount of time for an OpenGL ICD.

I think that their emphasis is now in their Matrox Video division and that R&D and driver development in the Graphics Devision is seriously understaffed.

Encouraging repeat business by providing top notch support for your older products used to be a key Matrox plus. Now it's a negative and I think that it may take them too long to learn the leason and recover from their mistake. It happend to 3DFX, Aureal Technologies (for those into Audio) and several other companies that where on the leading edge technologically and market wise, it can happen to Matrox.

I will most certainly get a new Matrox product.

The G400DH32 still does the job well inside my primary machine (a developer workstation). Secondary (Server) uses a cheap G450, couldn't do wihout the image quality even on a server...
I use twin 19" monitors and DH, still enjoying the fantastic screen real-estate of 2560x1024.

My arguments to buy another M product are superior image sharpness and DH.

In order to survive the next two years (!) of occasional FPS games, I would appreciate a slight improvement of 3D performance & features.

I doubt its a dedicated server otherwise why do you care? Some folks think you shouldn't even place the overhead of a GUI on a server.

I have been extremely happy with my white-box G400 16MB single-head (non-MAX) in my present system (K6-2/550, 256MB system RAM, VA-503+ motherboard). Unfortunately the upcoming G550 specs are awfully lacking when compared with some present products, let alone upcoming ones. I'm afraid my next system will most likely have a GeForce3 in the AGP slot.

That's interesting Zerotech cause Matrox hasn't announced the specs yet.

As long as it renders RSN in realtime (without accidentally dropping frames or showing clothing at the wrong times) its mine.

Maybe that undocumented feature is that its self contained and comes with "sunglasses" that have screens on the inner lenses and it can be like X-Ray vision

The specs I saw were in an article linked on the MURC main page. It appeared to be a legitimate article, maybe I was mistaken. Be that as it may, the GeForce3 and Radeon are here, Matrox is still blowing vapor.
