  • G400 core inscription

Today I put some thermal compound between the G400's heatsink and the core, and I noticed that there was a large plus sign on the chip that hasn't been made white, contrary to the name 'G400' and the matrox logo. What does this + mean? Do I have a golden sample with built-in RSN that I can enable somehow???

Seriously, does anyone know what the + stand for? Is it a core validated for use on a G400MAX?

I've got an 'X' on mine. Is that better or worse than a '+' chip? Guess it depends on how you look at it?

I didn't notice any mark when I removed the heatsink to put on some compound.

I think if you look very closely with a magnifying glass at the inscription you are seeing, you will see that it says "congratulations, you have just voided your warranty"

I wonder if you will find a <font size = 6>-<font> on the other side of the GPU if you pry it out

                      Or it might be a / or a \

Someone out there who knows what this might mean?

RSN AKA the Render Subject Nude feature.

Oh and I checked out my GF2 and it has a blurry inscription that reads ("Made in sweatshop #13 by Lagomos the Beaten")

Poor Lagomos.. No wonder the quality control is so poor..

This is an unofficial Geforce Buyers Guide tip lifted from an unedited page before "They" got to it... (They Being the Unnamed Nvidia.. heheh)

Try to get a chip made after 4:00PM as that is after they have had their 15 Minutes rest and a cupfull of gruel... you can identify these chips because they smell of oatmeal and have greasy fingerprint marks on them.

You can identify the earlier and later chips by the teethmarks caused by delusional minds percieving anything near as possibly edible.

                          LOL

that's the codename for the feature that the next Matrox gaming solution will contain. The card is also referred to as 'Matrox G16431.4 - the one with (insert buzzword-du-jour here)', as mentioned in PDtools.dll of the 5.52 drivers for win2k.

RSN will be able to alter the skins and wireframe structure of models in games, to allow for advanced option as the name of the feature itself implies, i.e. render subject nude. nVidia also knows this, and they know that the second that this new card is released they'll end up bankrupt, as all the people who are currently benchmarking whores owned by nVidia will see the light of this feature. That's why they're trying everything in their path to stop matrox from releasing it. Of course, we hope they fail doing so

I used both G400 16MB and a G400 Max, there was a '+' sign on the chip of G400 Max but not the 16MB card. I guess the "+" sign indicates the chip was for G400 Max cards, where the chip may be of better manufacturing quality, or simply a way to prevent Max cards mix with normal 32MB cards that use also SG Ram during manufacturing.
