    Unfortunately I can't read german..

I have read that i can use powerstrip to enable sync-on-green on my matrox. but how am i supposed to do that since my monitor won't display anything in the first place..

I believe there are people who have done this. You must use PowerDesk to find the EXACT resolution and frequency the monitor runs at.

If someone finds that c't article for me, I'll be happy to translate it for you.

    Ah, and welcome aboard

      fixed frequency monitor

I have a Matrox G400 DualHead 32MB Video card. I wanna use it with my HP A2094A monitor, which is a fixed frequency monitor.
I have a 3BNC to HD15 cable that came with the monitor.

What i wanna know is that can the G400 support this monitor??

What kind of cable do I need??

What software do i need to configure my G400??

Thanks in advance... I hope there is some one here that can help me.

There was an article about that in c't 2/96 - my "archive" only reaches back to nov '96, but maybe someone other could help out with it...

I run my G400 with my old IBM 6091 23" fixed frequency monitor. To get a picture, you NEED another monitor. Any plug`n`play monitor. Then, search the net to find what frequency your monitor supports. Thats in KHz, horizontal scan frequency. Mine supports both 33KHz and 63KHz (approximate). So i`m able to get all resolutions working. Not all of them are good, mind you.

The default (1280x1024) is excellent, 640 is very good, but 800 and 1024 are crappy ...

Once you get the other monitor and find out your freq, then u use the Plug`n`play monitor to get into windows and setup PowerDesk (Matrox Drivers). Get into Display Properties>Advanced>Monitor settings and disable "use simplified monitor settings". Then Adjust the current display, set the horizontal scan to match the fixed freq`s monitor Horizontal scan frequency.
Your plug`n`play monitor should support that resolution. Then, connect the HP monitor et voila.

Next you want to set the different resolutions, but that comes later ...

Also, if the picture is rolling (moving upwards), disable Horiz & Vert positive sync polarity.

PS. If you have any problems, feel free to ask. I spent hours setting the Monitor Settings so i`d say i`m pretty experienced with fixed-freq monitors.

Ungh ... you should have said that you run the fixed-freq monitor on the second head. In THIS thread ...

Ok, nuff about that. Now, i`m guessing only, but i *think* you will have to make a custom resolution (or a resolution you wont use with your primary monitor) and make the adjustments for THAT res only. (making the changes to any other res, ie res that you will use on the primary resolution as well as the secondary will screw up that resolution on the primary display).

Any DualHead experts, correct me if i`m wrong, but i figure that any customizations made to a resolution apply to BOTH display. Or are the resolution customizations independent for the two Heads?
