Yeh right!

Matrox's thinking here is that modelling and animating users' heads in 3D will soon become something of a killer app. You know the kind of thing: gamers will get their faces skinned and added to online game characters, while others will use the technology for virtual chat environments or mock video conferencing.

Its not gonna matter even if you can enable the "T&L" unit.. its a crippled unit, only supporting a few features that are used by that headcsting bull$%it.

Not to mention the 64-bit memory bandwidth would suck if you tried doing T&L.. lol

What a f'in joke

This looks like when 3Dfx released VSA100 and everyone seem to be dissappointed
and you know the consequences.
I just hope the outcome would be different.

Only good thing I saw was that its only $125 bucks Retail, but then again my Kryo2 was only $115 for an OEM card.

God man! Do yourself a favor and don't buy the GF3. Get a Radeon or KyroII. And quit whining

Hmmm, I just had the head talk to me on the Matrox website. Scary shit

Did anyone of you check there already? It's taking up the whole of your monitor !! Gone is your chance to surf on one monitor and check whatever you do on the second. One monitor is taken over completely by the HeadFone software and the head in the middle.

Oh well, must be fun if you're deaf, so you can lip-read or something, but for my use it's useless.

And errm Holly, I don't skin my head, I shave it

Headcasting? Is this a sick joke?!! If I am doing a video conferencing do you expect me to stare at some rediculous 3D head that moves its lips and try to convince myself that this is a real person??!! How moronic is that? What is the point of that? I'd rather have a simple voice conversation or normal video conference even at 1 frame per second. Headcasting is THE MOST RETARTED IDEA I'VE EVER SEEN COMING FROM A HARDWARE COMPANY. I can imagine someone getting emotional during a headcasting session but his 3d head-model keeping a completely straight face and only moving the lips. The whole idea is absolutely stupid and I am stunned that someone would come up with it, approve it and implement it. God, with that kind of "innovation" I won't be very sad if Matrox goes down.

Well, thanx a lot for your informative and emotional input, Admiral Horror, but if you're so unhappy, why don't you got out and get your ASUS V7100 Deluxe Combo instead of disregarding the rules you accepted by using such an offensive language like above in your 3rd post in a MURC forum ?

Just curious,

I have to agree with Admiral Horror here. Seeing some computer generated lip-sync'd head is a lame substitute for a real person. If you want the personal touch, you've got to be present...

Can you imagine a presentation done with HeadCasting? You'd need a huge projector for your slides, and another huge screen for your 'head'. It would be surreal.

Anyone remeber a UK music video TV show caled 'MaxHeadroom'? At least he was funny

LOL... although I have to say that a couple of people thought the same about Dual-Head, Maggi. You got to agree on that. No-one in his right mind would use that
Nor EMBM... then again, who uses EMBM these days

Besides, I have this feeling that the programmable RISC processor doing the simple T&L will be hacked within seconds after someone has it and that we'll find programs for it on Greg's site

Hahum and edit: I guess no-one read indept the preview on 3DCenter
Then again, someone with a name like AH doesn't speak German, so he wouldn't, and he can't read the tabel

Let me satisfy your curiosity:

As for the "rules I've accepted": at no point I've accepted the "love it or leave it" rule. This is a discussion forum, not a joined prayer to the almighty Gods of Matrox and if I think that headcasting is a moronic idea I'll say that headcasting is a moronic idea.

Do you want to know what I find offensive? I find it offensive that Matrox sold Marvel G400 to people saying that Win2k drivers are on the way, then made them wait for over a year without any progress report, then dumped the whole project and then offered a laughable $50 rebate on the $300 card. Now, that I find offensive.

Do you know what I find offensive? It's that people like you don't understand that the video group of Matrox is separate from the graphics group. Pretty tough one isn't it?
