  • about Matrox and Annihilator II Ultra & EMBM

I've bought the last friday a Creative Blaster 3d Annihilator II Ultra!

In the features it says it has environment mapping bla bla bla, i'd like to know where i can get a demo of some game so i can see this feature, is it as good as matrox?

I want to see things as with the matrox, but with the speed of the annihilator.

Does anyone know where can i find a demo of a game with EMBM ?? so i can test it , if it works on this card?
    thank you!
I was always having doubts about which should i buy, but i went for the gforce for the games! I have a PIII 1 GHZ and 256mb!
Will the matrox run as fast as the annihilator with this specs?

That is a GF2, it doesn't support EMBM.

Environment mapping, and Environment Mapped Bump Mapping are two different things.

      sebanaj,

      Welcome to murc!
To add to what Rags has stated, the GeForce2 Ultra does not support EMBM, but it does support dot3 bump mapping, emboss bump mapping and cube environment mapping....
      don't get them confused.
Speed wise, any GeForce DDR leaves the Matrox
in the dust, nevermind the 64MB Ultra.
If you still want some EMBM game demos,
      look HERE!

Rags hit the nail on the head. To see EMBM on an nVidia product, you have to go with the GF3 cards. I have one, but haven't yet tried anything that uses EMBM on it (I would've loved to try out Expendable with it, but it seems to be a Matrox-only feature in that game due to card detection).

        ------------------
        System specs:
        AMD T-Bird 1.33 (o.c. to 1.5Ghz)
        Asus A7M266
        256MB Crucial PC2100 DDR RAM
Promise Fastrak 100 EIDE Raid controller running
        2x IBM DTLA 60GB 7200 RPM UDMA 100 hdd, RAID 0 array
        "..so much for subtlety.."

        System specs:
        Gainward Ti4600
        AMD Athlon XP2100+ (o.c. to 1845MHz)

OH WELL, I thought bump mapping present in the features of the Annihilator 2 Ultra was EMBM, then why dont matrox make one like the Annihilator II and EMBM!
or can i buy an EMBM chip or something?

About GF III, i saw one, it was tested on www.pcworld.com, but surprisingly it's cheaper than the Creative Annihilator 2 Ultra! How can that happen?? or may it have less features??

will embm make a Gforce too expensive if implemented?? or does the Gforce have its own system for EMBM that makes it look the same way??

If you want a cheaper than GeForce3 and faster than Matrox G400/G450 card with EMBM try an ATI Radeon or Kyro II

What does this have to do with Matrox Hardware?

                    Beats me. Maybe just EMBM.

sabanaj, the Kyro II performs almost like a GF2 GTS (not PRO or Ultra) at a considerable lower price.
The ATI Radeon is also on par with the GF2, you might try the 64 DDR VIVO, but the Radeon II is just around the corner.
These cards are not as fast as the GF2 Ultra, but they are the only ones with EMBM that come close, except for the GeForce 3.
If you have the money, go for the GeForce 3.

Try X-isle the must have demo for nVidia GF2/3 owners.
The best graphics I've seen so far.
