But won't the pci-bus criple performance of a gaming card ? (Which is why I consedered using the Matrox PCI)
Exactly my thought. It would sure be nice to find some benchmarks for the Kyro II pci. Even if it doesn't perform as well as the agp version, it sure will perform better than the G400 and I don't have to buy two new cards - just one.

Lopez: Long time no see

Sorry I "took over" the thread, but my thread with the same topic just didn't seem to attract much replies .

Jörg

PS: I'll mail Hercules, and ask them about some figures concerning the KyroII PCI.

No problemo! Not as long as I get some useful answers anyway

I take it you'll let us know if you get some replies from Hercules, right?

Of course !
(I mailed tech support of the US website. Hercules claims they answer technical questions within 3-4 days, I'm guessing the weekend doesn't count, so we'll have to wait till the end of next week).

KyroII pci

Lopez,

The first answer I got from Hercules was:
"We recommend to you to put 3D PROPHET 4500 on port AGP (for questions of performances in the plays). Indeed, work in office automation nécéssite not a port AGP. "

Naturally, I was not satisfied with this, so I mailed them again. They replied:
"The KYRO II PCI is not avaible yet."

And then asked when it would be available and if they already have performance data about the card:
"We are sorry but we don't have informations yet."

So I guess we'll have to wait....

Those answers sound a little bit like the answers you would get from big M.

Well, I guess we'll have to keep waiting then . I don't think I'll buy two new cards (a G450 pci and a Kyro II agp).

Thanks for keeping us updated though

Just my 2p worth
But I have just upgraded to a Hercules Kyro II from
a G400 DH and the 2D quality of the Hercules card is just as good as the Matrox. 3D is outstanding! especially in 32bit colour.
So if you were wanting to use the Matrox card for desktop stuff etc. you will find the KyroII up to the job.
If you need the dualhead features on the other hand
Well that is what Matrox excel at.

i currently have Kyro II so if i get G450 PCI i can connect three
monitors in one computer, right ?

i need two or three monitors only in desktop use and one is enough for
gaming. would it work like dual-head but as a triple-head ?

thanks

Well... two of the screens will work as dualhead (g450) while the third (kyro2) screen will be a extension of the desktop.

I could be wrong on this though.
