  • My G400 MAX defaults to 60 hz in games

Howdy all. Title pretty much sums it up, in every game the refresh rate gets set to 60 hz, this does of course limit my frame rate. I turned v-sync off and ran CS in direct 3d mode, ended up getting around 90 fps average at 1024x768, not bad for a 2 year old card. Problem is, with v-sync off there is significant anomalies. Anyone know how to keep the games running at 85 hz (at least) refresh rate.

Vsync refers to the refresh rate of you rmonitor at a given resolution. Increase it to 85Hz (if possible) and you will have what you want.

Any idea how I would change that? Powerdesk sets the refresh rate to 85 htz for any resolution i use in windows, is there a sweperate setting for refresh rates in OGL and D3D?

Not sure but try "Customizing" a resolution, even though it is set to refresh @85Hz. For example, go to monitor customizations, adjust a resolution (for example 1024X768x32) and then set the refresh to 85Hz, go through all the dialog boxes that follow and select "Yes, Save any changes ... blah blah blah" then Finish. Make sure that the "Use customizations to Windows Monitor Settings" in the Monitor Customizations tab is checked. Try playing using that particular res. If it works, adjust all resolutions you use in D3D/OpenGL Games. It should work.

Omega has it right. All that needs to be done is go through and manually set the modes yourself using the MONITOR SETTINGS tab in Display Properties/settings/advanced. (even if the numbers appearing there are already what you want go ahead and adjust them manually and save them for windows to use and all that good stuff or else it won't be used for 3D modes.
