Yess.. It really IS amazing that card. Imagine Matrox NOT being able to beat its own product in two years of developing. Mayhaps Nvidia "hired" all the engineers behind the G400MAX?

THAT would go a long way to explain the p**s poor performance of the g550.

Oh and Kruzin, In reply to the closed tread above, Mayhaps we should have an "Adult" area, where swearing was alloved??

Ah well.. I guess I can survive the next 6 months on this 'ol Nvidia gfmx400.

Sure am lacking the high 85hz resolutions tho.

          Know what you mean!

That's why I picked one up when I saw one of the last retail-boxed versions here in Japan about 3 months ago. It's a 4X AGP model and I think it's the one made in Ireland. I haven't removed the shrink wrap yet in case I decide to sell it on Ebay.

And judging from the reviews now that the G550 is out, it was an even better buy than I thought!

May be matrox can manufacture the G400 core in 0.18 micron process with integrated secondary RAMDAC and run the chip at 200MHz with 4ns SGRAM chips rune at 250MHz. Its performance will be much better than G550 but I don't expect matrox need to spend too much for development of this card.
            LOL

Heh.. I might even consider buying that.. =)

Throw in 32mb extra ram at double the databus and it will kick at high res.

              Ah well..

Yes, or even a Maxx Pro version with 128MB SGRAM.

                  Yup.

Damn the features and damn the T&L. Give me bandwith. The rest i can get a pair of 1200mhz Athlon mp's to do.. =)

Is this getting long, or am I just milking this for my post # 100???
