headcasting can be done in software and thus would be possible on any system (theoretically) ...
but it's the G550 that offers dedicated hardware acceleration, giving the option to use higher definitions for the head itself and also for the needed matrices, to generate those facial expressions.

Yes,
it's possible to make these headcasting
with a G4xx card, but Maggi is right the quality
is not so pretty fine.

There are some Pdf files for this in the matrox
knowledgebase.
