Does even a GeForce 3 have the power to do that in the latest games? I doubt it. A GeForce 2 - for sure - is not even close to that level. Plus nVidias FSAA implementation can't compete with that of Voodoo 5. But then again: What was Voodoo 5, I don't seem to remember exactly ...

not sure, but the kyro II seems to be able to do that

      (in some games, at least)

r200 has a 400mhz RAMDAC!!.. that should produce a rather nice picture quality..
I think matrox is about to lose the lead in every aspect of video card technolgy...except "maybe" oem acceptance.

Contrary to popular belief, RAMDAC alone doesn't dictate good image quality.
Garbage in, gabage out applies here too.
If garbage is fed to the RAMDAC, garbage is what will come out...

I have upgraded my G400 to a MSI Geforce MX 400 and yes i do notice that the G400 was a little more crisper in 2d images but i wouldnt write home about it and i certainly wouldnt trade the speed for the G400 again....Its not as noticable as you guys are saying at least not on my system!

                    Cheers

@Casper... And as always... what monitor are you using and what resolution are you basing this on? If your talking 1024x768 then no you won't, if you're talking 1280 and up then YES YOU WILL!

If it's out of spec, poorly aligned or out of focus then regardless of what goes in, crap comes out.

I hope at least your're not going to pull a Galvin on us.

I have ordered a new computer with a Gainward Gf3. I do not have a crappy monitor (Sony F-500) and I will conduct my own personal image quality test between G-200 and the Geforce. I will let you know... soon.

                                Viking,

I am looking forward to your review when you have obtained and configured your GF3.
I dont believe that yourself or me is in anyway trying to badmouth the G400 in anyway at all as i know some do! I am only attempting to offer my opinion that the Geforce cards are not as bad as they may have been in the past when it comes to 2d and crispness of picture.
The only reason i upgraded my G400 is that i am hoping to stay with technology advancements as my wallet will allow and my G400 was getting old, after all it is a 2 year old technology. In fact that is why i stayed so long with my G400 as i was hoping to obtain one of the G800 although it appears that that maybe just a pipe dream?....and as for the G550 i cant justify the cost for little or no improvement but rest assured i will continue to keep my eye on Matrox for future develpoments and technologies!
I hope that we can continue to explore this discussion in a mature manner and not get into an arguement of any kind and that all parties can discuss this open mindedly and honestly to the best of their opinions!

                                Cheers all!
