  • All DVI cards the same quality output?

Ok, we all know that Matrox is the absolute KING for 2D image quality... at least with analog signals.

I was thinking about DVI and wondered if all cards will theoretically output the same quality signal since it is digital.

I believe Matrox's 2D is so good because they have a high quality RAMDAC. Since there is no digital-to-analog conversion with DVI, it seemed logical to think that DVI output from various cards should produce the same results. (All other things being equal of course... resolution, color depth, etc.)

Anyone know if this is true or false?

Well since DVI is a digital format, it should in fact put this burden on the display - but I'm sure NVidia will find a way to still make their cards look pale/washed-out (just so their customers aren't shocked because of all those vibrant colours...)
But we named the *dog* Indiana...
