  • Okay, I am going to follow Ant's advice, who wants to do the same?

    As the title says.

    I can improve. I will do it. If I post up something that is not quite right, or is misunderstood, PM me and I will address it.

    Who else will do the same?

    I will.

        I will try too!!!!!!!

        I agree 100% the PM function is nice. Also the Report Post to Moderator function is nice too. Ant has enough on him already just administrating the MURC as a whole. Please try to only go to Ant as a last resort. And if you don't think you will get any help from one of the mods try the others. I have been put in my place a couple of time by the other mods so don't think that just because we are BBs and friends that we won't let the others know when we see they are out of line.

            It at least sounds like a good place to start. These forums have been too useful and important a part of my life (free-time, family and work do come first, heh) to see them going down the drain this way.

            I said once a while back that the forums would slow down until the Big M released something to truly talk about. So far they haven't, and I was partly right. What I didn't expect was the infighting that has taken place lately.

            Maybe if we all think before reacting, and simply ignore things that would cause our first reactions to be the flame.. or else, at least try to be civil in our responses. (Nothing ticks off a flamebaiter or instigator worse than either being ignored or at least not recieving the expected confrontation..)

              Forgot to add, as always, my email address is visible and I do check it.

              I just noticed that ones who complain about me never say anything directly to me or try to discuss it.

              I concede that I do need to work on things. But let's not play "I am telling on you to Ant", let's play "Matt/Rags, you really should take another look at what you posted, you come off the wrong way, etc.".

              My door is always open.

                  Alright, I try never to kiss @ss, so I hope this is understood to be from the heart..

                  If it were not for Ant, there would be no MURC, and I'm not just talking about the physical website or the daily work and expense he goes to to keep it all going. The manner in which Ant comports himself on these forums should be taken as exemplary for anyone who would be a moderator here. Though he has more right than any of us here to do so, he never puts himself and his own feelings or opinions above the interests of the forum cummunity as a whole. His function as a referee here necessarily excludes him from taking sides in or participating in fights or petty feuds. I would like to think that everyone takes the title of Moderator as seriously as Ant takes that of Administrator. Next time you post something under your title as Moderator, stop and think.. would Ant be doing this in my position? If not, why not? There's usually good reason why Ant is often silent about certain things, and I tend to think it's not just because he's got other things to do.

                  Another great line from Lawrence of Arabia:
                  Colonel Brighton: We can't just do nothing!
                  General Allenby: Why not? It's usually best.

                              <p><small>Seriously Ant, perhaps post a few <a href="http://www.freerepublic.com/help.htm#guidelines">guidelines</a> above the <img src="http://1st-website.com/mortgage/graphics/submitbutton.gif" alt="submit button" title="this submit button doesn&#39;t actually do anything" /> button.</small></p>
                              <ol>
                              <li>
                              <p><small>Lead by example - Nothing improves a forum more than posters who reason sharply, write well, and have some perspective about it all. Be one of them.</small></p>
                              </li>
                              <li>
                              <p><small>Keep it clean - A bruise or two between MURCers is tolerable, but refrain from abusive attacks, engaging in senseless flame wars, and using profane language. This is a family site.</small></p>

                              </ol>
                              If people have to read something similar above every submit button, they might think twice before they flame.
