  • G200 problem?

After installing ATX power on my system and reinstalled G200 I got this message when shutting down computer

    VMM(01) + 0000C0C1 Error: 0E:0028:C000D0C1

After booting in Safe modus I didn't get this message.

My first theory wast that it had something to do with my MB or AGP port/driver or ACPI/PM.

But after changing to Standard VGA display adapter I didn't get this message. My conclusion was it has something to do with my Matrox G200 videocard. I was using wx623 driver and lastest bios 208.

Maybe it will help if I use other drivers f.ex. 622?

Here are a few things to look at/try. Although I'm Wintel and have little experience with AMD/Via, go to ViaTech and make sure you have the latest drivers for your particular chipset. There may be an AGP filter patch you may need too.

Go to Matrox and get their uninstall util (pd_unin.exe).
Update your VIA drivers. While in Standard VGA mode, run the uninstaller. In Safe Mode go to Device Manager >Display Adapters and remove any lines referring to a Matrox card. Reinstall the latest drivers.

One other thing. When I initially installed Win98SE onto my system, ACPI gave me a problem. It dumped most of my devices onto IRQ #3 and my NIC refused to install. The problem was remedied by disabling SB 16 Emulation (DOS legacy support). No biggie since I don't play DOS games. On rebooting ACPI resorted all of my IRQs correctly and my Matrox card got the IRQ #11 it seems to favour. Remove any DOS legacy/ISA devices and put them back in later after the above has been done.

Beyond that, check that the card is seated properly and check your mainboard BIOS for any setting errors in the chipset features area.
You might let this post sit for a day in this forum in case there is better or corrected advice from someone more "hands-on" with VIA stuff.

      Re: G200 problem?

      Thank you very much.

I did resolve my problem and it's actually the same as you described.

First I changed to Standard VGA display adapter and uninstalled powerdesk. No error message.

Next I downloaded and installed VIAs USB patch filter for MVP3 chipset and VIA 4 in 1 v433, but with AGP drivers in normal mode.

Finally I installed powerdesk v623 and everything is working fine. I didn't have to touch ACPI/PM.
