SMP Stability with G550

Has anyone got any comments? rock solid, or shakey as a house of cards?

i'm looking specifically at stuff that pushes the card, ie fullscreen vid playback, and game playing,

Greebe was so kind to drop me a note about your request ...

We run several G4x0s on various SMP boards, while most of 'em are from Asus' P2B series, but we also have one Thunder K7 and noen of those show any SMP-Matrox related problems, at least none that I know of.

Since I don't have a G550 here at work and I only run a single CPU system at home, I fear I cannot give you any further input ...

One further question, is it pure 2d work? or 3D that you use the G4xx's for?

most of it is pure 2D, ie. Photoshop, Digital Fusion, Elastic Reality, Image Ready, Internet Exploder (yuk!) and Star Office (yuk²!), but occasionally I have to run some 3D on it too (OpenGL and D3D). Needless to mention the latter task lacks somewhat performance, but for serious 3D (Softimage, XSI, Maya) we use big 3D Labs cards, but those severely lack 2D performance and stability.

Are the Matrox-drivers SMP-enabled ?
(do they use both processors, or are they just limited to using the primary one ?)
