Errm, this page tells something different. There is a DVD player downloadable for the stone-old AIWPro cards for Win2k, and a WinXP version "coming soon".
This is, btw, the same DVD software they also use on the Radeon and it's a full install, for installation you only need the ser-num of your gfx-cards install CD, that you should've got when buying it.So ATI DOES offer free DVD player upgrades even for quite old cards, maybe not for 5 years, but still...

Think what you want, but that is the very same basic engine they have been using for a while. It is an upgrade on the same engine, not a new one. If it were a new engine, it would cost ATI about 6 bucks for each download for the mpeg license alone.

Still it DOES work in Win2k and they'll be offering a XP version as well - and the ATI DVD player (based on the Cinemaster engine, like Matrox' DVD software, btw...) works like a charm supporting the HW acceleration features, even if it might be an older version of the Cinemaster engine (still has to be newer than the original G400 one since it works in 2k) - so what?
