  • G450 etv in pci format?

I'm looking into building an ultra small multimedia unit to integrate into my home theater system and am wodering if the g450 etv is available in pci as the mobo would use a pci riser slot for height limitations

I'd highly recommend one of the Hauppage WinTV cards.

I like the WinTV Theater mod. 495 which would be nice for your application because it has surround sound.

There is also mod. 401, that is a bit cheaper but doesn't have surround sound.

Both are PCI, have TV tuners, S-Video & composite inputs and have Win2K and XP drivers.

Another advantage to the WinTV's listed above: they have a physical IR remote control

For a beginner I'd recommend using Uleads VideoStudio 5.0 with all the patches installed. MSPro 6.5 also works nicely. Such as setup could be used to capture MPEG direct to disk (given a fast enough system/CPU) or *.avi's using various software codecs.

My favorites are HuffYUV (uncompressed, for when you need max quality for adding special effects) and PICVideo MJPeg. Both can capture full frame *.avi's with modest systems.

The perfect display card for this rig would be a Matrox G450 DualHead. In DVDMAX mode it could be used to output S-Video to the rest of your home theater system.
