G200, XP and 24bit desktop possible?

Is there a specific reason why you can't set a WinXP desktop running on a Matrox Marvel G200 to 24bits? It would help greatly for me when playing DVDs since 16bit is fast but with visible colour faults and 32bit is too slow and a bit choppy...

To be honest, I have no clue about XP, but I could imagine that it's related to the G200 not Being HW accelerated when set to 24bpp.

But since this could also be a Marvel specific problem, you should repost your problem in the Desktop Video forum right next door ...

From what I've read (in murc, actually) 24bit is accellerated, but only in 2D. Which is exactly what I'm after.

I'll go ask the DV board now.
