G400 / XP blank screen on reboot

Hi, I'm having a most frustrating problem with the G400 on XP, where occasionally ( I think only after I shutdown and turn on again) the matrox refuses to change res to the login screen (i.e I get a black screen after XP loading screen). Everything works fine underneath, its just i don't get a picture until I restart in VGA, uninstall, reinstall etc etc. and its really p**sing me off. Using latest drivers, bios etc etc.
