Hi:
Asus P4T-E i850/s478
P4 1.9GHz
Either 1 or 2 GB RDRAM
Do I have this right?
CMOS: set PnP O/S to NO
set USB to Enable
set Assign IRQ to VGA
set AGP Aperture to 256 or highest
On initial WinXP HE desktop MS will have installed whatever drivers were supplied by Matrox.
Download Matrox w2k_572.exe and run to expand
Download Matrox setup251.exe and run to expand
Download Matrox pd_unin201.exe & run to expand
1) If G550 bios is older than v2.51, go to:
Run > C:\mgafold\sysutil251\PbiosWin.exe
2) After Restart, go to ADD/REMOVE and remove Matrox drivers
If none listed, go to:
Run > C:\mgafold\unin_201\PDUNINST.EXE
3) After Restart, point XP Wizard to:
C:\mgafold\w2k_572\Setup.exe
I believe I’m OK so far…
To keep things simplified, I’ll only be installing my main monitor (ViewSonic P817 21” CRT) during the initial XP install.
I thought I would add my secondary monitor (ViewSonic GS815 21” CRT) after the above is finished by shutting down, connecting it to the DVI/HD-15 adapted connector and enabling DualHead in Display Properties.
Is the above the drill for getting a G550 w/DualHead up and running in a WinXP HE clean installation?
Slightly off-topic…
It seems as though with the i850 chipset, Intel may be going the way of VIA and its 4 in 1 updating. There are apparently some chipset INF files available to be installed. Up to and including the BX boards, the O/S and main board BIOS upgrades took care of that.
I’m hesitant to install the INF files as my system will be installed onto one of two ATA133 HDDs on a Promise Ultra133 controller card. Is it safe?
Do the Intel INF files affect a Matrox video card?
Thanks in advance for any help.
