      i'm busted!!

i still would like to know the answer to the question though

i started this system about the same time as some other people in the forms. my system took awhile because of the sheer cost of some of the componets...not to mention the 2.5 weeks i had to wait for the x15 drive.

this thing is snappy...that makes me happy. i can't wait to have both displays on digital. i've been a matrox user for a long time and this setup will be the best yet

it seems as though i should't have to do anything software wise, i'll be finding out the hard way soon enough!

i unpacked my card after work today...whats' up with matrox, no booklet, plain box..no fancy artwork...ahhh if it works, who cares!!

the dual-dvi cable is puzzling...each end of the cable is marked with a fraction one end has 1/3 and the other has 2/4. i'm inclined to think that 1/3 is the primary cable. which end will the bios come up on????

sounds like it's ready for a G450 MMS DVI

Or, it's the same cables as what our G200 MMS quad boards use

Chucky, did you find a treasure under your backlawn. Because that rig probably cost you a fortune.

                  novdid,

no treasure...just a good job that pays well. i haven't added up the reciepts but the two displays alone are 8K, so the entire system is over 13K. i like building systems like this, + it helps to buy the componets a little at a time over time.

                  haig,

does that mean that 1/3 is the "primary"???? what about the driver issue? the cd looks exactly the same as the one for my g550.

                  dzeus,

this is the same cable for that card(g450 mms)? is it designed for multiple display adapters??

oh, I wasn't aware of the fact that there also are G200MMS models with 4 DVI outputs

                    Chucky:
1/3 and 2/4 just logically indicate that the cable is either the 1st and 3rd output, or the 2nd and 4th, depending to which connector it has been attached of a Quad-DVI card. In your case, connect the monitor that you want to display the boot info to 1/3, as that will be the 'primary output'.

I replaced a G550 with a G550 DVI about a month ago. I believe Windows 2000 had to reinstall the drivers. I just ran the uninstaller, then reinstalled from the latest WHQL driver set on Matrox's site.

                        thanks dZeus and IceStorm!

that is kind of what i thought on the markings...knowing for sure makes it easier. i think i'll go back to vga with the matrox uninstaller before i shutdown to replace the card, xp pro should handle the transition similar to 2000.

the good news is that i get saturday off and on monday i start a three week factory school on these new robots made by some company in sweden...ABB is the company name and they have a fab in michigan...thank god for laptops!!!

Not some company, it's the biggest company we have(part swiss though).

They are going thrue a scandal now though, their former CEO Percy Barnevik got himself a healthy ~90million dollar parachute. Now the authorities are looking in to it.

Although ABB is a large company, I actually believe that the value of LM Ericsson AB is more then that of ABB.

                            Thanx / B.

                              dual digital heaven...

all went well, now both displays are on digital(..1280 x 1024 @ 60Hz) @ 32 bit true color. the driver i had on my system(..5.72) had to start over with the dual head setup but it even put my icons back in place!!

                              Matrox is the BEST!!!!!!

                              Novid,

the factory people just got done installing 4 RCS systems(..thats' 8 robots) in our new facility. i have had a 2 week overview school but now i get to get down to the PLCs' and some real troubleshooting...these things are awesome!! i didn't know how big the company was...now i know
