if you can find a cheap voodoo3, that's your best solution for that setup (had something similar once-upon a time). Very good 2d (no, not matrox good, but close to the G200) and good 3d
    no 32bit color
    System 1:
    AMD 1.4 AYJHA-Y factory unlocked @ 1656 with Thermalright SK6 and 7k Delta fan
    Epox 8K7A
    2x256mb Micron pc-2100 DDR
an AGP port all warmed up and ready to be stuffed full of Parhelia II+
    SBLIVE 5.1
    Maxtor 40g 7,200 @ ATA-100
    IBM 40GB 7,200 @ ATA-100
    Pinnacle DV Plus firewire
    3Com Hardware Modem
    Teac 20/10/40 burner
Antec 350w power supply in a Colorcase 303usb Stainless

very true (for 3d). but... for an unserious gamer, eeking out the most perf possible on that old system is probably the best way to go rather than for eye-candy. 3dfx did have fantstic looking 16bit color due to their rendering.... but it certainly is NOT 32bit. tough to find, though.

I have the same basic system, it's for students to use here in my office. I have a G400DH in it, works great.

I could get a radeon 32 DDR (a friend of mine gave me for a week) so I will try it.

            need help

I've installed the card into my sister's comp. Everything seemed to be fine, until i've ran 3DMark ran (showed about 1200 points), q3 ran (~20fps).
In DxDiag the 'agp texturing' button is grey and is disabled. The 4.37v Via driver package and dx80a and ati driver version 4-13-9016-efg are installed.
I would say the tnl part is out of order.

            Anybody ever met such problem?
