DVD playback on Millemium G400

Starting a DVD with Matrox DVDplayer causes my monitor to "calibrate" two times before the movie starts. However sometimes the caibration leaves nothing but a black screen after causing a "click" in the monitor. Reboot helps most of the time, but it's quite annoying. What can I do about this?

Pentium 3 1Ghz
512 Mb RAM
Matrox Millenium MAX G400
Rainbow Runner G
SCSI Adaptec
Iiyama Monitor Pro 510

Drivers are the most recent for the Millenium MAX of february 2002.
