I believe he meant a card that made such an impact as the v2 did whereas it squashed all other cards in all benches and features.
The gf1 was able to be beat in some benches by even the g400max, and the max blew it away in IQ.
All of the nvidia cards except for a "couple" of namebrand gf4's have been plagued with bad IQ.
A good reason to be disappointed

If he was only talking about IQ...Well, that's something that's hard to imagine, if you're including a Voodoo2.

I mean...Voodoo2 was all about speed and performance...not IQ, per-se...although the fact that it could actually render a game in, say, OpenGL/Glide/D3D _and_ offer impressive performance might seem like an IQ thing, when compared to all other supposed 3D chips in that timeframe.

But as far as IQ is concerned....it's a pretty dodgy thing, if you're specifically talking about nVidia. There are definitely known manufacturers that emphasize IQ more than others...

Yeah, it's hard to judge IQ though.

Would you rather your G400 was showing just how vibrant some colours can be? Or would you rather turn those texture detail and filtering options up a notch?

At least Parhelia will offer both once again (for a while anyway)

The Voodoo2 was the first 3D card I owned, I liked it so much I bought another one!

The reason I liked it so much was that up till then I had been using software mode. The voodoo2 made all games so good looking. I also never once had a problem with it.

I was lucky, and had(still have) a 20 inch monitor at that time, that has both BNC inputs and D-Sub. I used my Millennium2 AGP through the BNC connectors for 2D, and whenever I started a game, pressed a little button of the screen, and used the Voodoo2 SLI through the D-Sub connector. Best of both worlds.

Ive since had a Riva128, 3Dlabs Permidia,TNT1 a geforce1 SDR, a Geforce2MX (origional, before the 200/400s came out), and a Radeon LE (origional, not 8500). Thats not counting my Matrox cards.

Out of those the only one I kept for more than a month is the Radeon. Thats only because it was cheap, and is actually quite a good card.

            Well Ali,

Its not like you have ever had a decent card given that list. (other than the voodoo 2 cards)

I am not suprised you have never been happy with any other video card.

hmm, the GeForce256 SDR's were not bad cards at the time. they handled wireframe models and pure polygon counts much better than anything else that was released yet (for a consumer board).

Granted, the GeForce2MX was total crap, often outperformed by older cards, and the Radeon LE was also a POS...

Actually, the Radeon Le was quite good. I have it clocked up to 200/200 and have hyperZ enabled, so its actually better than a standard Radeon Retail.

The Geforce was the most expensive card Ive ever had, and it sucked. The MX was a POS, and I sold that to my cousin a couple of days after getting it.

Ive had the best gaming card available at the time several times. the Voodoo2 SLI, the G400@Max speeds, the Geforce1 and the RadeonLe @200/200.

Only the SLI and G400 were great cards, the Radeon was a good card, I was disapointed in all the rest.
