  • Dead Head

Hi… I got a major problem… this first happened with my G450 which I dumped for a G550 because of the problem. The problem is that my TV out head has suddenly stopped out putting to the attached device… when I tried adding a monitor to it (duel monitor instead of monitor and TV) the new monitor seemed to be missing the green channel? Another problem is that every time I try to plug the RCA in to the TV or in to the G550 head adapter I get electric shock. Please tell me that there is something I could do to fix this problem since sending it for replacement or repair is somewhat out of the question because it will coast me almost as much as the card itself is worth and it would be too time consuming since I relay heavily on the Dual head features for my work.

    The computer is properly grounded?

only with self made grounding since no grounding is available with the wall sokets.....
.... cable atached to chasis atached to unused water pipe..

Id say disconnect the ground wire to the water pipe temporarly and see if you still feel the shock when u plug the RCA in. That water pipe may not be properly grounded, or something else that is attached to that water pipe for grounding is faulty, and is putting a live AC voltage onto that pipe. However if you have already felt enough voltage to give you a shock, and the green output isnt working then youve probably already damaged the card.

Yeah, I had a hunch you weren't grounded right. Can't go much farther with this until that's fixed. Also, I'd rather ground the 3rd pin on the power plug than just trying to use the chassis.

There's little dongles that you can get at almost any hardware store. You don't say where you're from, but I'd assume they are as common in Europe as they are here in the US. It's a little rubber slug that has a three-prong socket for you to plug into, and on the other side is has a 2-prong plug, and a ground wire.

I mean do you still get the electrical shock using other TVs? If your TV is putting a high voltage on that composite cable, then your card is probably already damaged. No number of diffrent TVs or monitors will give u a diffrent result if the card is already damaged.

You would notice its presence, if your picture is getting into a darker/flicker and normal loop periodically."

i did notice this on my TV befor the signal whent out

I concur with the power cable needing to be grounded.

Which country u from? (2 pin power is common here, and without ony type of fuse either...nice people.)

i have similar problem, my svhs outut died suddnely from day to day, picture on tv is scrambled as wihout synchro and it has only green and red color. Composite output is working fine. I checked the cable and the tv with friends notebook with svhs out and everyhing is working fine. I did not tried second monitor but i'll try this.

did dyou tried to unplug antena from your tv to avoid the shock ? there can be voltage difference between antena gnd and computer gnd.

did someone else met similar problems ?
                              thanx
