carmack has stated that he was not payed to demo it on the ATI card....
he has also commented on the fact the drivers were extremely coarse, which goes against the RV250, as that is an enhanced 8500 and uses the same drivers.
another thing is that ATI was bragging about running it on their ultra high performance next generation part... something that the RV250 is not, being its going to be the mainstream card for a year (replacing the 7500).
granted, until either carmack or ATI come out and say which chip it was on, no one will know.
it was a very smart move for ATI to try to do that tho, it was a major marketing win.
