New monitor: excellent 17" or decent 19"?

The "good" Iiyama models mostly have (besides the higher price than their budget counterparts) also an extra BNC connector.

I had a very good Iiyama17" and now have a great 22" (Iiyama VisionMaster Pro510), the only thing that's holding image-quality back here is my Radeon8500...

Hey thanks for the replies. Looks like I'll be getting a Vision Master Pro 512 then. The specs are nice, and the price is right in my range. Now all I need is a good mounting arm. I'm still having trouble with this one. I want one that will connect to the wall (ceiling is too high) and will allow the CRT to pivot both horizontally and vertically. Any suggestions guys?

First of all ... I'd recommend that you view and play with the monitor before purchasing it: Specs only tell you so much.

You can find adequate monitor arms at a high-end audio shop. I'm sure mine can handle the weight (its holding a very heavy 19 year old 19" TV).

21" Tubes

I've done a bit of shopping lately and ended up w/ a Hitachi CM823F. It's a nice tube, though I had a bit of a fiasco buying it. I thought I got a defective one the first time since the image was a bit bent in one of the corners, so I tested the replacement @ work (on a G450) and it was fine. Got it home & it does the same thing! That & my framerate in GTAIII means this G400 needs to go. (teach me to buy a refurb lol)
At any rate, it's got a good clear picture and good geometry if it's hooked up to my G450 @ work. One thing that I've noticed about it is that it really has to run at 85Hz refresh to look nice in Windows (or Solaris , though games are ok at lower refreshes.
This is sort of a blessing & a curse. 2048x1536 doesn't look as nice as it could (max 75Hz), but OTOH faster phosphors are probably good if you're an FPS junkie.
I've also got a pair of 21"s at work- a Dell P1130 (I think) and an NEC FE1250+. The Dell screen sucks. The black just isn't black. Plus the NEC (or the Hitachi I have at home) were only a little more $$$.
The NEC's a pretty good screen too. I haven't tested it out as much as the Hitachi since all I run at work is Linux w/ both screens in 1600x1200@85 (programming job). Unlike the Hitachi it's an aperture grill monitor, so it's a bit brighter. Out of the screens I've got significant direct experience with, I'd recommend the 823F unless the room is brightly lit, in which case I'd prefer the NEC. If you need catapault ammunition the Dell P1130 is a good choice.

I think you'll either be out of luck, or end up paying a lot of money for such an arm. Being able to vertically pivot and stabilize 75lbs requires a lot.

Yeah I'll definately look at one before I decide to buy it. But just saying it looks very promising. I looked around and finally think I got something here for a mounting arm.

Specs say it can hold 200lbs, so that won't be an issue. Thoughts on this?? Should I get an arm online or is there any retail stores that would sell these?

I can vertically pivot mine to some degree but I bet I paid a good deal for it (part of a/v installation throughout the house about dozen years ago).

Interesting I tested mine on the free internet check up joby posted here (I could see it as well) and it was definatley there.
I notice that Sony Monitors have top and bottom convergence adjustment.
I thought I read somewhere that larger monitors suffer more freom this problem.
