Oh, that's the one with the missing chip (top-middle); this chip was present on the alphaboards (with the big heatsink).
Any idea what this chip does/is ?
(some have suggested the RSN-feature... )

only official answer was that it won't be occupied in retail cards (as opposed to those beta boards) ... no idea what it was used for though.

maybe some sort of bist-chip(built in self test), or perhaps something that might be used in the rt3000 version of the parhelia.

15 pin connector?

I'm rather interested in those 15 holes that look like they should contain a 15 pin D-sub (just to the right of the upper header connector).

To my mind, it looks rather like they had a 15-pin analogue connector right on the board, judging by the 15 pin arrangement, and the two large holes that look like they should anchor such a connector. I wonder if there were plans to have a second header plate with an analogue connector on it? I never did like the look of that splitter lead.

Anyone care to speculate?

Naaa we know they can't say. And having a few NDA's myself i understand the frustration of not being able to say.

But I suspect it was a 16 pipe RSN chip
