Let me think two additional good quality 21 inch monitors. Okay 2nd hand £400 quid another larger desk big enougth to hold three monitors about £100 plus £330 for the card. Jee £1200 pounds in one go. If you went for LCD it would be even worse. I can't see that being for the masses really.

      Hey Kosh,

It was a joke. Did you not see the smilie faces? Relax. You'll live longer that way.

      Joel

BTW the Parhelia looks better at medium quality settings than GeFart at high quality settings and will run faster to boot. So you can have your cake and eat it too.

I wouldn't consider this to be a flop becuase according to our OLS, the pre-orders have increased since yesterday's reviews.

And i am getting a Parhelia for sure. I do a lot of work on me PC and gaming isnt the biggest factor. But i do enjoy gaming a lot. I just need an all round card that performs better then my TNT2 . -

Even if the card was a KILLER on every aspect, I'd wait some more, expecting the prices to fall.

400 bucks is way too much for me to spend on a graphics card.

Maybe when the driver prove to stick some more performance, and the price stands on the range of 200-250.

I also consider the price too high at the moment but I don't expect to see the price coming down at all for quite some time. The product will improve shortly to the point that I'll probably reconsider it.

As far as surround gaming being "for the masses"...

I consider myself pretty "mass-ive". I just went out and bought a couple of 17" monitors. Best buy had the MAG 770FS monitors for 159.00USD, less 20.00 in store discount, less 50.00 mail in.

Final total... 180bucks for two extra monis.

Now, they aren't top shelf monitors, to say the least. but, they will do 1024 at a decent refresh, and are bright and clear. Since these are intended to be my outside monitors for Surround Gaming, so what...

Now, is 180+399=579.00USD the kind of commitment everybody wants to make? probably not. But I know dudes personally that bought a GF3 for 400 bucks, then turned around and bought a GF4 the day it was released.

At any rate, surround gaming isn't an entry level thing. But don't make it out like it is ordering fois gras with morel sauce, or like buying a solid gold urinal for your house...

              Cheers,

                - With the talk and features around the net. I see a lot (loosly) that features arent important until the the bigboys (ATI and Nvidia) implement them... . Saying, that the features the Parhelia offers can easily be duplicated/improved upon. But then you have to ask. If someone doesnt start a revolution (no matter how big or small) it is a beginning. Just facts to back up my statement. A lot of people wouldnt even consider using more then 1 monitor before ATI and Nvidia. Now Dual Monitors is All the Rage... When the G400Max offered it well over 2years ago? So even to people who think this card is a POS... It is just a start. Just my spin on some current events . -

I'm having the advantage of waiting until the end of the year before I build my new system, which probably will be powered by a Clawhammer. (Hopefully a matrox-card too)

And by then some questions concerning P. will have been answered, like how OCing is working, how drivers has matured, possible revisions of the card like P. MAX, what other cards is on the market etc. etc.

Then again if I should buy a Perhelia, I'll still know that it'll probably hold up nicely the coming 2-3 years like my G400 MAX has, I really like matrox hardware since I've experienced it to be equal to quality.

And if the bbz says it's running g8, then why should I not believe it?
                  I'll buy a new card Soon™, very Soon™!
