At least it seems like the price in germany isn't as high as aspected. The well known store Mindfactory (also available in english, just click the button) has the bulk version listed for 439€ (430 US-$) and the retail card for 469€ (459 US-$), that would be about 80€ cheaper than the official price!
The downside is that last year they listed the Radeon 8500 first for 580 DM ("old" german money, 290 US-$) and when it was actually available they had it for 650 DM (325 US-$). And currently the status of the P. is "ordered" but the release date is still "unknown"
Maybe the streetprices will go down in the US or Canada too. When they hold this price, a Ti 4600 in a cheaper variant (MSI) would be "only" 70€ cheaper
