  • Parhelia + Hauppauge WinTV PCI don't work!

    Hi all,

I can't get my WinTV card to work on my new Parhelia on WinXP.

All i get is a window that distorted on the top and with blocks missing at the bottom.

It does work in 'Primary' mode rather than Overlay, but Primary gives an awful pixellated picture. which is watchable with a small window. and it also goes jerky at full screen.

I've tried all sorts of combos of resolution, colour depths and powerdesk options.

I'm using the 1.00.03.230 drivers for the Parhelia, the 3.31 WinTV drivers and the 3.39 WinTV2000 application.

    Any ideas anyone???

Before my Parhelia, i used to run it on a G400 and it gave stunning picture quality! Far better than any tv!

    TIA

    Rich.

    Hi banana ,

    interesting but strange trouble, sorry!

Do you tried it already with activated and deactivated (desktop) GigaColor and hardware motion compensation features? Perhaps these new things disturb. Next after these tries, I would perhaps temporary deinstall Coloreal Visual and see what consequences this might have.

    Good luck

          Hi again,

& sorry again, but I don't have a WinTV card here at home, where I am now.

I haven't tried this combination with Parhelia & WinTV PCI card yet. The mentioned things were just first ideas, because these things may influence displayed videos and are different from G400.

But here is an other (perhaps more lucky) one. Do you know the mainboard chipset you use? If the manufacturer is VIA, perhaps it's the AGP driver. In my opinion this is an Achilles' heel of VIA boards and here may be differencies in behavior compared to G400 as well. A new one is downloadable here: http://www.viaarena.com/?PageID=2

          Good luck again

            Cheers again

I use a Hauppauge DVB-s on my Parhelia and only saw problems while having motion compensation turned on ...

follow this link and try MultiDec which supports analog (WinTV) and digital (DVB) TV cards.

                Nice board!

If you still have trouble with it, are here some new questions...

Did you use it already with G400?
Is the onboard Rage XL successfully disabled?
Do you use Tyan's/AMD's most actual AGP Miniportdrv?
(If not you'll get it here: ftp://ftp.tyan.com/chipset_AMD/S246x/Win2000_XP/AGP/ )
And - perhaps - are there any address or other conflicts shown in your device manager?

they work fine together in Win2k as I've heard from a user who has this combo.

That's with driver version 3.11.19200.0 for the hauppauge WinTV PCI.

                      edit:
appearantly WinTV2000 can't use overlay on his system either, but 3rd party tv-view aps can (like MoreTV and all).

ATM the Haupauge WinTV/Parhelia/XP combo doesn't work. I've contacted Hauppauge about the problem (theirs)

I found that the wintv combined with a G550 under XP looked shit. Went back to win2k (other reasons) and the differance in quality was tremdous. I think Hauppy need to do a bit of work on the XP side of things.

When I replaced my G400Max with the Parhelia, I had to uninstall the 3.39 versions on WinTV (drivers & WINTV2K) and go back to using 3.31 per Hauppauge's website. The WinTV2K version is 3.31.19206 PVR.

My problem was similar and re-installing the older driver and app fixed it. The TV image on mine was better with the Parhelia and has been the only problem that I have encountered for far

                              How unsuspected tricky again!

                              Does it function topbanana?

I looked for answers as well, but this problem seems to be still too new and unknown, everywhere. Greatdore's solution sounds interesting!

If there will be (hope not), any further problems I would recommend this tech support address: support@hauppauge.co.uk
