I'm using the Eye3D glasses from I-Art

and those come with a VGA pass-through connector.

I guess you have those relevator glasses from NVidia cards, right ?

In that case you're probably trapped since there's no connector for those on the Parhelia and afaik you'd need an external add-on.

Revival of Stereo3D

Hi All,

I'm bringing back up this topic, because I found my olden Shutterglasses when cleaning up the mess around my computer and my search for apropriate drivers drove me nuts, because both former drivers I was using where discontinued and would require DX7 or DX8.1 as basis ... now everybody try to find DX8 based 3D drivers for a Radeon 9600pro ...

Anyways, a few days ago in a french forum, I stumbled over a link to www.edimensional.com and they seem to be the only ones offering generic DX9 Stereo3D drivers for non-NV cards, they even claim to support any video card !

Most pleasing is the fact that the drivers are completely free for download, so if anybody still has some shutterglasses around and no NV card at hand, go here and check out the Proprietary ATI/Universal Drivers Version 4.25 (February 26, 2005) !

So far, I only tested FlatOut, but that one simply blew me off my chair !!!

I haven't tested the E-D Activator yet, but most likely I'll do so over the weekend.

Just a little update, although this doesn't seem to be a topic for everybody ...

Those eDimensional drivers do work quite well, but apparently is either my Rad9600pro not up to the task or the drivers are far from being optimized, because the framerate drops down so much, that it's absolutely impossible to have some kind of gameplay, it's rather a beautiful slideshow.

On the brighter side, I was meeting a friend who runs a NV6800GT and the stereo 3D drivers from NV turned out to be very mature. Consequently, the performance is very high and for the first time, I was able to use alternate frame rendering, which I now officially declare as the stereo 3D mode ...

If I only had the money to get one of those 6800s, I'd buy one, just to make my glasses work.

For some reason NV continues to develop drivers for the 3D glasses that nobody bundles anymore. However strange this decision, I think for once they're right to keep on doing it. Maybe we'll end up with some real VR glasses, one day...

Maybe you should try a 6600GT, it's quite affordable, and if you can, get a couple and a SLI mobo. 2x 6600GT is cheaper than 6800GT...(knowing that it's like comparing a dually system to a very fast mono CPU one, your advantage depends on what you do with it).

those stereoscopic drivers from NV do not work with SLI yet and although there are no bundled glasses to be found anymore, there are still a few 3rd party manufacturers that offer some, eg. www.edimensional.com or www.iart3d.com

Even a couple of ATI FireGL cards have a connector for glasses and ATI themselves wrote stereo drivers for those.

Besides, I have absolutely no money to spent on computer equipment for the next couple of months, so getting a 6600 or 6800 is out of discussion ...

Hi Maggi, SLI is still "dark science". NV won't let it run on win2k either (how fun, I JUST reinstalled my gaming rig with win2k and was waiting to get another 6600GT... the fun never ends... )

if you have an NV card, it should be no problem to setup, so go for it ...
