State of Anisotropic Filtering?

Hey guys,

Another question...What's the current state of Anisotropic Filtering?

Remember the early reviews? Despite the fact that the hardware was capable of higher levels, it was determined that the current drivers (back when they were launched) were only capable of a "
2x" equiv...

So, is this stil the case? If so, is there any hope in addressing the issue with future drivers?

i think the official line is next driver release will not fix it but bitch enough to the sales team and they may do something about it in the end, to be honest at this point drivers with fewer issues in applications are the mainpriority but i am sure it will be looked at some time before christmas.
