Oh you mean like is at ambient?

Years ago ATi burned me and my customers so bad the even if their latest greatest was awaesome I'd still have a impossible time buying anything the pucked up. So as far as I am concerned they owe me big time. As for nV... well they are the thief's of the industry, hell bent on domination. With that said who truely is left? Also in saying that does it mean I'm a zealot?

Be honest in all replies, I can take it

I am adding my anger to the pot. People read these reviews and then buy or don't buy. What a load of crap. How hard is it to verify with tech support a problem you may have? Does this dough head really believe that you need a 2400x800 rez monitor? Or triple head can't go above 60hz?
And yes MATROX sponsered his review! AHHHHHH!!
Matrox save you money. Give it to your linux team. I wan'y Cinelerra running no prob by X-MAS ;>)

lol some of these reviews have been pure crap in my opinion {not saying this one in particular, but several were}, Im glad typedef enum from nvnews gave an honest opinion over at the beyond3d.com forums because he feels exactly how I do. IMHO i dont think theres a better card out there right now in terms of quality / features.

I'm curious to hear this one.

Are you just mad because ATI only made Win98 drivers for the Rage 128 MAX, or are we talking about a real ass-screw here?

LOL....You shouldn't waste your time to read all their crap reviews. They do have "quantity" but none of them have the "quality" IMO.

No wonder those are called "articles" and not "reviews". None of them qualify to be one. Probably they are paid to write these articles and wonder how many readers they have cheated with their inaccurate info.

Couldn't have said it better myself Several of them covered the Parhelia technology in general which is the main reason I actually read them (or parts of them).

Look at their articles on Athlon Xp vs Intel P4

                  Image here

and then look at a similar tests over at Tom's Hardware

                  At same resolution (1024*768),
                  Tom's XP 2100+ can beats a P4-2.2 by 300 points

however over at HardwareZone, wonder how they tweak the P4-2.2 so that it can even beats a XP 2200+ by 200 points! That's just opposite of what Tom's Hardware shows....

                  What's happening?

lol, I dont understand this either really... Perhaps a different motherboard, more aggressive timings on one system than the other for memory, different brand or types of memory, etc, I assume this probably happens more often than not... I guess it could possibly be something involving driver revisions even. The one thing I've learned about the whole Athlon / P4 Debate is they both make a good chip, both perform well enough to keep me happy with what I do. Benchmarks really do come out oddly sometimes when looking at various reviews, but it defenitely makes you wonder sometimes.

I'm going to take you at your word.

Zealot would imply, in my interpetation, and undying devotion to a product for no rational reason.

You tend to have rational reasons, but you also tend to extend those reasons year after year without ever testing the water again. That makes you more a bigot, which is extremely silly in an industry as dynamic as computers.

The fact that you "moderate" and I use that term real loosely here, posts who discuss technology you disagree with also tends to not paint a very positive picture.

I suspect you're an all together pretty good guy and you seem to really know your stuff about cooling. When it comes to PC hardware I find you a particularly static individual in a dynamic world.

And this probably should be on the soap box or site feedback, honestly.

Yes, the computer industry is dynamic, but memories are not, and should not be. Just because an industry moves quickly, that does not mean that companies should just expect us to forget when they burn us. Decency, honesty, and loyalty do not take exceptions just because we're talking about commodity hardware.

Executive teams come and go in this industry as well. Some leaders are more concerned with long term reputation versus short term profits and others the opposite. No company is perfect.

                            I can understand Greebe.

I was burned by Creative with their SBLive and there's absolutely no way I'd get any other Creative card again (be it sound- or gfx- or whatever-cards) for quite some time - IF there is a competitor that CAN compete at an not much higher price (I'd be willing to pay a bit more to NOT get a Creative product at a slightly inferior performance, though...).

Similar goes for NVidia - I had a TNT, and this card was absolutely terrible, mostly regarding 2D quality, so my next card was a G400.

But I'm not THAT unforgiving: if there hadn't been ATI with their Radeon, I'd most likely nevertheless have a GF3 now, but from a manufacturer which is known for better 2D - since Matrox was just much too much off from a performance point-of-view until the Parhelia arrived.
But we named the *dog* Indiana...

Ryu, thank you for your rather shallow insight after only being on these forums for a very short period of time to base your opinion of me and what you think I know.

The fact is you are just some young punk that thinks he knows it all and hasn't the experience to back up what those of us that have been in the field for decades. Most likely about as long as you have been alive, give or take a few years.

There are some areas I will comment on simply because I have defacto knowledge of. Cooling is one, but as an EE also can delve into a much greater depth of what is what far greater than what you believe to be by simple reading of X many articles on the subject.

As a moderator I say and do as I feel fit. After being asked to be the GH/S mod my first concern was if I can be myself. Yes that means to be the way I always have been. So if you do not like the way I handle it go elsewhere or shut the **** up.
